Thank you to Dr. Tsu-Tsair Chi for allowing us to share this invaluable information with you.

Most people typically associate hypertension as caused by heart disease. While that may be true, it is not the only cause. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is related to the brain, kidneys and adrenals as well. Here we will discuss what to look for and what to do in order to naturally manage blood pressure.

According to reports, hypertension is predicted to be the #1 health issue by 2025. Currently, 1 in 4 adults worldwide has high blood pressure. By 2025, it will be 1 in 3 adults.

A blood pressure reading of under 120/80 mmHg is considered normal. If your blood pressure is between 120/80 mmHg – 139/89 mmHg, you already have pre-hypertension. You should take steps to make sure it doesn’t go higher.

Constantly high blood pressure is dangerous because it can develop silently without any symptoms. If not genetic, hypertension can be caused by many factors, including:

  • Heart disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Adrenal fatigue/tumor

In addition, there are other factors that raise blood pressure, including pulmonary hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.

Blood Pressure VS. Pulse

When you are checking your blood pressure, you also need to check your pulse rate. If your blood pressure is normal but your pulse is high, this just means that the high pulse (your heart’s pumping rate) is helping to normalize your blood pressure. If blood pressure is high and pulse rate is low, it means that your heart is not pumping enough. That is why blood pressure increases.

Many athletes often have both low blood pressure and low pulse rate. This is because their constant exercise have made their blood vessels soft and flexible, making pumping the blood easier, so pulse rate is low as well as the blood pressure.

To help make the blood vessels more flexible, Vein Lite and OxyPower are recommended.

Hypertension Due To Heart Disease

Blood is pumped around the body from the left ventricle of the heart (one of the heart chambers). In hypertension, the thickening of the left ventricle makes it difficult for blood to be pumped through the ventricle and makes the heart muscle weak. As a result, edema, chest heaviness and shortness of breath can occur. If you have shortness of breath and high blood pressure, this means that blood supply is not enough. Also, because of the thickening of the left ventricle, there is pain when the heart contracts (angina).

Chronic and uncontrolled hypertension can lead to atherosclerosis, kidney failure, aneurysm, heart attack and even sudden death.

So be aware of your blood pressure and make sure it is not constantly high. Also look for these markers which can indicate high blood pressure:

  • Red face
  • Red spiky dots on the tip of the tongue (Figure 1)

Also check CRP and Homocysteine

You also need to check your C-reactive protein (CRP) and homocysteine levels if you have high blood pressure. CRP should be < 1 while homocysteine should be around 6. A high CRP and homocysteine increases the risk for heart disease, as discussed in the last newsletter.

To lower CRP and homocysteine levels, Vein Lite, OxyPower and Asparagus Extract are recommended. Hypertine helps to naturally lower blood pressure.

HYPERTINE: Anti-Hypertensive Supplement

Hypertine naturally dilates the blood vessels and increases blood flow even to the peripheral blood vessels. It manages blood pressure through the brain within two hours after consumption. If taken regularly, Hypertine can help maintain normal blood pressure, like in this case.

G. Adams, MD from FL, has a 66 y/o/m patient with hypertension who was able to reduce his blood pressure to 120/58 mmHg after 2 weeks on Hypertine (Table 1).

VEIN LITE: Anti-Coagulant, Lowers Fibrinogen, CRP and Homocysteine

Vein Lite reduces coronary, pulmonary, and peripheral blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels through activation of sodium potassium pump (or Na+K+-ATPase). Furthermore, left ventricle thickening, as mentioned, is one of the factors causing hypertension. Increased angiotensin II enzyme causes the heart’s left ventricle to thicken and overgrow, leading to narrowing of the blood vessels and increased blood pressure. Vein Lite blocks the angiotensin I receptor so angiotensin II levels are reduced.

In the lungs, Vein Lite reduces pulmonary hypertension by preventing ischemia and hypoxia. Vein Lite also acts as a calcium channel blocker to promote heart muscle contraction.

Vein Lite is also effective in reducing blood clotting factors that hinder the flow of blood.

OXYPOWER: Lowers CRP

OxyPower can effectively manage blood pressure by lowering C-Reactive Protein (CRP), an inflammatory marker, reducing left ventricle hypertrophy and increasing heart ejection fraction. All these functions allow blood to flow more freely, reducing pressure.

Poor Kidney Function Can Increase Blood Pressure

When you have high blood pressure, one of the first things recommended is to avoid salt. The kidneys manage salt levels in your body. If you have too much salt or sodium, your kidneys are not able to handle it so the salt ends up in the blood. This draws more water and increases blood volume, thereby increasing blood pressure. The Centers for Disease Control reports that nearly 9 in 10 US children eat more sodium than recommended, and about 1 in 6 children has raised blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke.EDEMA

Are your ankles or legs swollen? Leg or foot edema (water retention) is usually due to a kidney condition (Figure 2).

When you see swelling or edema in the legs or ankles in the morning, this is usually a sign of poor kidney function. You can also look for kidney symptoms/markers such as swelling in the face and hands in the morning, foamy urine, teeth marks, etc.

If your edema does not appear too much in the morning but is much worse in the afternoon or evening, this is mostly due to a heart problem. Sometimes this may be accompanied by shortness of breath or edema in the lungs. When the heart is weak (heart failure), it is unable to pump blood effectively so fluid builds up in the legs or lungs.

If you have edema, use ASPARAGUS EXTRACT and BATHDETOX immediately to reduce water retention. Asparagus Extract is a natural diuretic and that also reduces homocysteine (to be discussed later) to improve heart function. Bathdetox is an herbal bath that helps pull toxins and excess water from the body safely and effectively.

You can see the effect of these supplements in these cases:

CASE 1: P.V., a 62 y/o/f from CA, had high blood pressure (226/126 mmHg) and was taking the prescriptions Norvasc, Benicar), Dyazide, and Alprazolam . She still felt like her head would explode and her blood pressure fluctuated between 185/90 and 226/126. So her doctor then doubled the dosage of Benicar. Then she added Hypertine, Asparagus Extract, Vein Lite and Bathdetox. One month later, her blood pressure was manageable and stable around the 160/90 range and her edema has reduce. She has since cut back on many of her medications.

CASE 2: M. Perkins, DOM, LAc from FL, has a 58 y/o/m patient who had a bad fall and landed on his hip, damaging his L5 area. His left foot had persistent edema after he was hospitalized. It wouldn’t subside despite the 2 medications he took. So he tried Asparagus Extract and Kidney Chi. After a week, his edema cleared.

CASE 3: T. Detwiler, DC from KS, has a 94 y/o/f patient with leg edema. After using Bathdetox for 35 days, her leg circumference reduced to 8.5 inches (Table 2).

ASPARAGUS EXTRACT: Natural Diuretic and ACE Inhibitor

Many doctors recommend a diuretic as first-line therapy of choice for hypertension.

Asparagus is well-known for its natural diuretic property. Many cases have attested to Asparagus Extract’s effectiveness in increasing urine output and lowering blood pressure. Asparagus Extract also reduces homocysteine level, which is associated with increased risk of heart disease.

Furthermore, an in vivo study shows that Asparagus reduced blood pressure by inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the kidneys. The ACE inhibitor from asparagus was isolated and identified as 2”-hydroxy-nicotianamine. It was found to relax the blood vessels, allowing them to expand and promote blood flow. We see this result in the case below where the combination of Asparagus Extract and Hypertine stabilized blood pressure.

A. Khalaf, DC from FL, has a patient with blood pressure ranging from 150/110 to 160/120 mmHg. He took Avapro which reduced his blood pressure to around 150/90mmHg. Then he added Hypertine and Asparagus Extract. After 1 month, his blood pressure became stable and he stopped Avapro altogether (Table 3).

Avoid Low-Sodium Salt Substitutes

While low sodium is recommended for hypertensive patients, avoid low-sodium salt substitutes as they contain high levels of potassium, especially if you are on an ACE inhibitor medication. ACE inhibitors can cause the body to retain potassium. Adding the salt substitute will cause too much potassium in the body which leads to atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). Instead, choose low-sodium and low-potassium foods.

Hypertension and Diabetes

Diabetes complications like diabetic nephropathy can cause damage to your kidneys’ filtering system and result in edema. So it is also important to control diabetes and avoid its complications. To help manage sugar and insulin levels, take Diabend. It promotes beta cell function of the pancreas in order to improve glucose tolerance and insulin receptor sensitivity as well as reduce glucose levels and HbA1c. Add OxyPower and Myomin for better results.

Adrenal Fatigue And Adrenal Tumors Can Cause Hypertension

Stress is the main underlying reason for adrenal fatigue. So when you are constantly stressed, chances are your blood pressure will increase. Cortisol level and your symptoms can give you a clue whether you have adrenal fatigue.

Normally, cortisol is high in the morning and progressively drops as the day goes on, with the lowest at night. But in people who are stressed or have adrenal fatigue, cortisol is usually low in the morning and high at night. Usually they have morning fatigue and increased energy in the evening.

If you have these symptoms and your cortisol levels are abnormal, you need to correct your adrenal function to ensure that your blood pressure will not be affected. Chi Energy, Relaxin and Chi Happiness are recommended for adrenal fatigue. Take Chi Energy in the morning and afternoon to improve adrenal gland function. Take Relaxin and Chi Happiness in the late afternoon and evening to reduce cortisol.

Adrenal tumors (pheochromocytomas) are benign tumors that trigger the adrenal glands to release hormones that can cause persistent or periodic high blood pressure that usually doesn’t respond to medication. Angiostop is a sea cucumber extract that can help stop the growth of the adrenal tumor and eventually make it shrink.

When you have hypertension, it is important to determine the cause in order to effectively lower blood pressure. High blood pressure can be due to a number of factors, including heart problem, kidney function and adrenal fatigue/tumor. Diabetes can also cause complications that can increase blood pressure. To naturally manage blood pressure, take Hypertine, Asparagus Extract, Vein Lite and OxyPower.
  • If you are short of breath, have chest pain or chest heaviness, then a heart problem may be the underlying cause of your hypertension. Usually people who have this problem have a red face and red spikes on the tip of the tongue. Also look for markers like earlobe crease, cherry angiomas on the forehead, nail clubbing, and lack of moon on the nails, which can signal a heart problem. You can also check your CRP and homocysteine levels as these can indicate heart disease. CRP should be lower than 1 and homocysteine should be around 6.
  • If you have swelling in the legs or ankles, kidney problem is contributing to your high blood pressure, Asparagus Extract will help. If you have diabetes that is damaging your kidney function, Diabend, OxyPower and Myomin can help manage it.

A low-salt or low-sodium diet is recommended for those with hypertension. However, patients who are currently taking ACE inhibitors should avoid salt substitutes because they have high potassium content. ACE inhibitors already increase potassium in the blood so adding a salt substitute can cause excess potassium, which can lead to atrial fibrillation. Instead choose foods with no salt or low sodium content.

  • If you have adrenal fatigue or an adrenal tumor, this can potentially increase your blood pressure as well. So you need to improve your adrenal function with Chi Energy. Check your cortisol levels also. If it is low in the morning and high at night, take Chi Happiness and Relaxin in the afternoon or evening. For adrenal tumors, Angiostop is highly recommended to help reduce the size.
